During Part B, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the focus will be on better understanding the financial structure and decisions which must be made at this important second phase of imple-menting a successful reusable packag-ing strategy. Coca Cola will share its insights about cost considerations that factored into their decision-making process when implementing a reusable packaging system. Other presenters at this session include Bob Klimko, direc-tor of marketing & sustainability, ORBIS Corporation; Drew Merrill, Container and Pooling Solutions (CAPS); and Andy DeWitt, TOSCA. “Stakeholder alignment is a crucial component of implementing a success-ful reusable packaging solution in today’s supply chain, but we really don’t talk enough about this impor-tant step,” says Klimko. “In this session we will delve into the challenges of in-tegrating reusable throughout the company’s business operations.” Merrill adds, “Every company wants to know and understand the cost of im-plementing a change in their packaging operations. Once the right type of con-tainer is selected and the costs of the containers are known, companies need to make a ‘make or buy’ decision for end users of reusable packaging better understand the issue of product loss and develop systematic approaches to better manage their valuable reusable resources. From a simple paper and pencil accounting system to complex RFID solutions, managing a company’s reusable assets is an important part of the supply chain process. Presenters in-clude Keith Schall of CAPS. “In any asset management program, a company must first understand whether controls are in place to identify true asset loss rate and the general in-dustry guidelines for loss,” says Schall, CAPS. “In this session we will provide an overview of available asset manage-ment systems. We’ll look at simple paper-and-pencil methodology to com-plex high-tech tracking systems, and fi-nally look at how to develop the processes necessary to create actionable and enforceable data to ensure compli-ance throughout the company.” During Part B, from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m., Pat Kennedy, president of the Kennedy Group, will take participants on a video tour of the Alpha Baking to explore the company’s lessons learned from implementing an RFID tracking system to manage their reusable assets. Also at PACK EXPO, the RPA is hosting a comprehensive Reusable Packaging Pavilion that will showcase products and services for reusable packaging from 23 industry leaders, as well as membership information at Booth S-6063. In addition, the RPA is hosting its annual Networking Recep-tion for members and their invited guests. The educational sessions are designed to help attendees address the issues facing users and potential users of reusable packaging. The key topics that will be addressed at the sessions include stakeholder align-ment, the cost of implementing a change in packaging operations and asset man-agement. This one-of-a-kind technology from Memjet allows the CDT-1600 PC to print in four-color (cyan, yellow, ma-genta, black) and optional spot color at 1600 x 1200 dpi resolution. The CDT-1600 PC is the first commercially available production-class solution powered by Memjet. Colordyne’s Production Class printing system is designed for manu-facturing floors and distribution cen-ters, allowing customers to print what they want, when they want it. With a compact system footprint, the CDT-1600 PC requires minimal user inter-vention, on-site maintenance and no expensive power systems. SD partnership with Memjet (San Diego, Calif.; Booth S-5415) and unveiled its CDT-1600 line of high-speed Produc-tion Class and Bench Top printers, powered by Memjet technologies. The CDT-1600 PC (Production Class) printer performs continuous web printing on pressure-sensitive la-bels, narrow web packaging, retail tags, professional documents and pre-die cut labels at 32 in. per second (160 feet per minute). Its five printheads con-tain more than 350,000 nozzles that release 3.5 billion drops of ink per sec-
